Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Les Corts in Barcelona, Kiku Chan stands out as a cherished gem for lovers of authentic Japanese cuisine. This cozy restaurant, located conveniently at Carrer Numancia, 133, has quietly earned a loyal following over the past two decades, a testament to its unwavering commitment to quality and tradition.
Step inside Kiku Chan and you're immediately embraced by a nostalgic, old-fashioned ambiance that feels like dining in a warm, intimate home rather than a bustling city eatery. The décor, modest yet inviting, sets the perfect stage for an unpretentious culinary journey that transports you straight to Japan with every bite.
The menu is an ode to classic Japanese comfort food where every dish tells a story. Among the crowd favorites, the gyozas stand out with their delicate, crispy skins encasing a juicy, flavorful filling that bursts in your mouth. Equally compelling is the Katsu Kara Rice, a harmonious marriage of crispy, golden fried cutlet paired with savory curry and perfectly steamed rice—it’s no wonder that regulars find themselves coming back for this comforting delight again and again.
One can’t discuss Kiku Chan without mentioning the legendary Karaage chicken. As one enchanted diner put it, this recipe feels like a precious relic from an ancient imperial kitchen, so rich and satisfying that it literally makes your eyes twirl backward in delight. The balance of crispy coating and tender, juicy meat creates an explosion of umami that lingers pleasantly long after the last bite.
Beyond the flavors, what truly makes Kiku Chan a standout is its approachability. Prices remain refreshingly affordable without compromising portion size or ingredient quality, making this a perfect spot for a casual yet satisfying meal—be it a quick bite after a shopping spree at nearby La Illa mall or a relaxed catch-up with friends. The staff’s warm, attentive service further elevates the experience, ensuring that each visit feels personal and welcoming.
Regulars describe dining here as "like eating at someone else’s place," a sentiment that beautifully captures the homely atmosphere and genuine care reflected in every dish. It’s rare nowadays to find a restaurant that remains so consistent in delivering hearty, delicious Japanese food at such value—and Kiku Chan does so with pride and grace.
If you seek an authentic taste of Japan in Barcelona that embodies tradition, warmth, and excellent value, Kiku Chan is a culinary haven not to be missed.

I've been dining in this place for almost 20 years. What can I say? Food is great (I'm a big fan of their gyozas and the Katsu Kara Rice). Prices are quite low and the quality never disappoints. Top that with an excellent customer service and food fast served... It's a no-brainer. Perfect idea after a shopping session at the mall (La illa) or just a good location to catch up with friends.

This has to be a restaurant in the list of legendary restaurants of the world that withstand the test of time. I came here as a child in 2002 and 20 years later everything taste the same, meaning delicious AF. Like, for instance the Karaage chicken must be a millenarian recipe recovered from a forgotten ruler’s imperial kitchen in a distant Asian land because it makes my eyes twirl backwards every time I eat it.

When I give a rating I am trying to put it in relation to price. I think there is a tendency to compare everything to fancy hipster places that are growing like crazy in this city. And it's great there is a variety but it's also important hat you can find a place with relatively good food that is accessible within the normal range of price. I am not saying we shouldn't have expectations but we should also be realistic and respectful. There are at the very end less and less spots that are not part of a big franchise or with big money behind. So if you are looking for simplicity both in terms of food or interior for a reasonable price this is exactly what you can find here. Also the portion of ramen was big.

They have a nice, old-fashioned look to it's overall appearance. Nice quantity and quality, feels like eating at someone else's place. Would highly recommend trying their katsu curry and surprisingly affordable for what you are given.
